Google RISE Overview
Google RISE (Roots in Science and Engineering) Awards are designed to promote and support science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and computer science (CS) education initiatives. We provide awards to organizations working with university and pre-university students to provide enrichment programs in these fields.
Google believes that technology will continue to play an important role in shaping our future, and the youth of today will help innovate and drive these technologies for years to come. If all things were equal and the playing field was flat, all students would have a chance to reach their potential and achieve great things in science. Through the Google RISE Awards Program, we aspire to help students take one step closer to achieving their potential by offering growth and development opportunities.
Program Guidelines
- Google RISE Awards are specific to STEM and computer science educational and outreach programs.
- Non-profit organizations and university-based faculty, staff and student organizations are encouraged to apply.
- The RISE Awards Team will give special consideration to programs that impact underrepresented students in computing and technology (Women, African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, People with Disabilities) and economically disadvantaged students.
- Previous RISE Award recipients are encouraged to apply but please be advised that new programs will be given priority consideration. While there is currently no limit set on the number of RISE Awards a program/applicant can receive, this guideline will be reviewed on a yearly basis as the program evolves.
- There is no formal reporting requirement, however we will be asking for feedback at the conclusion of the program or updates if the program is on-going. This information is useful for us to shape and develop the RISE Awards Program for future years.
- The program is currently open to organizations operating in the United States.
Support may include a combination of monetary awards, volunteer resources and in-kind donations. Award amounts range from $500 - $10,000.

The application portal for 2010 funding is now open. The deadline to submit your application is Sunday, November 22, 2009.
